今日は有機栽培について見ていきたいと思います！

有機栽培とは、化学合成によって作られた肥料や農薬を使わないで栽培することを指します。

化学肥料や化学合成によって作られた農薬を使った栽培は、安定した供給をもたらしますが、身体的、環境的影響を及ぼすリスクがあります。

日本では農林水産省によるJAS規格という基準があります。認証機関を通して、JAS規格と検査を終え、認証されることによって、商品を”有機”として販売することが可能になります。

JAS有機栽培のガイドラインには上記のような農薬は使わないことを大前提とし、周りの農園からそのような農薬が飛沫してこないように対策をとることが認証にあたって求められています。

Today, I am going to talk about organic farming. 

Organic farming typically refers to a farming system that does not use chemicalized or synthesized fertilizers; which, while often ensuring the stability of the production, can also contain some risks of negative influence on people and the surrounding environment. 

In Japan, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries has set a standard for organic products which is called JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standard). To acquire Organic JAS certification, a series of inspections by a third-party organization is necessary. Only after having been thoroughly inspected and certified can a seller label products as JAS-certified organic. 

The JAS guideline regulates the use of pesticides and fertilizers and, in addition, requires farms to set up preventative measures against pesticides and fertilizers drifting in from other farms.
